Fresh Start Ch 11

~Len POV~
      The fall turned out less painful then I though. Sure pain was soaring through every part of my body, but at least I wasn't dead right? The usual happened after we fell. Lilacnia screamed, half the school came out, everyone panicked, Rin fainted, Miku screamed, half the group of fan girls I have screamed, the other half fainted. You know everyday stuff.
   At first I couldn't feel a thing. Except for the lack of air. The world was blurry and I was getting dizzy. About 15 minutes of screaming girls, fainting girls (and some weak boys), the ambulance finally came. It was good, because I was starting to go numb by then. Some dudes came out of the ambulance and put me on a stretcher and into the back of the ambulance. Rin (dragged in by Miku), Miku, and Lilacnia climbed into the back with me. Miku and Rin to my left, and a sobbing Lila to my right. "I-I'm s-so sorry Len…I'm so sorry" Lilacnia said in between sobs. She repeated that over and over again until we got to the hospital which was also the time Rin woke up.
   After getting me into the hospital and my luxurious half room, they took some x-rays. I hope I hadn't broken anything vital.

~Lilacnia POV~
  It 12:00 p.m. when the doctor finally came out with the results I was so nervous. It's my fault Len fell. It's my fault if he dies. Or if he broke anything serious
   The doctor walked up to us. He was staring blankly at his clipboard and was a pale.
"He-He's….." He began. Rin jumped on him.
"HE'S WHAT?!? SPIT IT OUT DANGIT!!!" she screamed a little too loud. Various people around the room gave us strange looks but returned to their own problems. The doctor took a deep breath.
"Kagamine Len correct?" We all nodded.
  "Well, it seems he didn't break anything that would keep him confined in a wheelchair. He didn't break his legs and has no internal injuries. His brain is fine too. The only thing that broke was his arm. We can put a cast on that. Other than that he is perfectly fine" The doctor explained to us slowly. At first we were all quiet. And I swear the second we all got past the "Len isn't dead" phase Rin glomped the doctor like the world would end in 5 seconds and she would never have the chance to hug a doctor again in her lifetime.
   "CAN WE VISIT HIM? YES? YES, OK" Rin screamed. She grabbed Miku and I's arms and dragged us to Len's room. How she found it I have no idea. Sibling physic powers?
  We were told to wait a minute while a couple of random doctors(coughstrangerscough) put a cast on Len's left arm. After they were done we were allowed to come in.
"LEEENNNYYYYYYY-KIINNNSSSSSS" Rin and Miku yelled in unison bear hugging Len.
   "Gah! Guys' g-get off. C-can't breathe." Len coughed. Miku and Rin released him, both giggling.
"Sorry Len. I'm so glad you're ok!" Rin said hugging him again, this time without killing him.
  I didn't know what to do, since Len and I weren't bff's or siblings. So I just stood there not sure what to say or do.
  "When do you get to leave?" Miku asked sitting on the bed next to Len.
"Right now actually." He replied. Len then pushed Miku to the side and stood up."Free at last~" he said. Then he noticed me standing here. He smiled. "Hey Lila, don't I get a hug from you too?" I blushed.
"U-uh…." I stuttered. Miku nudged Len and he looked like he wanted to punch her.

   Miku invited me to her house so that's where I was now. Miku and Rin were downstairs making who knows what. Len and I were sitting on his bed in his room. I was signing his cast when he suddenly asked
"L-Lila w-would you wanna go on a date with me?"
I sat up so fast that I almost fell of the bed. I caught myself and looked at Len. He was looking down, blushing a dark red "Um I'm sorry what?" I asked. Len blushed an even darker red.
"I-I mean…I was wondering if you go roller skating with me. Th-There's a nice skating rink close to here, and I wanted to know if you would go with me tomorrow….after school." I paused for a second. This was the first time I had been asked to a real date.
"Sure"
Len looked up. "R-Really? You'll go with me?" I nodded and blushed. If I hadn't been there, I bet you a million bucks Len probably would've done a victory dance right then and there. He looked that happy.
I heard the front door open and close.
"LEN KAGAMINE WHERE THE FLUFFY CAKES ARE YOU?!?!" someone yelled. I jumped. One because this was the first time I heard someone yell since I was 8. Two because when someone is angry they usually don't say "where the fluffy cakes". I saw Len flinch out of the corner of my eye.
"Come on." He said and grabbed my hand tugging me towards the door.
~Len POV~

WOOT MY TURN.  Pfft , now you know I'm a man. I can ask girls on dates! (Like a boss!). Ok so I wasn't that confident 5 minutes ago but who cares. I released Lila's hand when we got to the stairs.
   I walked into the living room and found Meiko. Her arms were crossed and she looked angry. "Len, why is the school saying you jumped off the rooftop? And why am I getting a call from th- WHAT THE HECK LEN WHY DO YOU HAVE A CAST?!" Meiko suddenly cried, cutting herself off.
"Uhh…." What was I supposed to say? "Yeah Meiko-san, I jumped off the school Iike an idiot to save a girl. Surprisingly I didn't get hurt. How? Because I'm magical." No. Just no.
Lila walked into the living room. Meiko raised an eyebrow at her and then looked at me. "One more question. When will you stop bringing random girls to the house?" I blushed.
  "She's not random! She's my friend!" I said. Meiko sighed.
"Fine. I'll figure it out myself." She said walking into the kitchen. I glanced back at Lilacnia who seemed to be lost in thought.
  She looked cute like that.
~Piko POV (yay) ~
  "Did you find him?"
  The chubby man with a beard was panting. He stood in front of a another man in a black suit facing the fire pit. "Mr. Calzaver I asked you a question. Did you find my son?" The man in black asked turning around to face the chubby man.
  "No Mr. Utatane. I didn't" Mr. Calzaver answered. I shifted my wait to my other side. Being crammed up in a corner trying not to kill both the targeted men in the room was difficult.
  Mr. Utatane glared at the Mr. Calzaver. "The good for nothing boy is ruining my brother and my plans. If you don't find him soon, he could ruin everything!"
  "That's just what I plan to do, daddy dearest." I breathed.

   After an hour of crouching in a corner, I finally got the information I needed. Now I was standing outside the castle. Staring at it, I remembered what had happened to me. All the pain…
[FLASHBACKNESS]
    "Get up Piko."
  My dad shook me awake. I was 7 years old and my life had been fine until now. "What? Why?" I asked yawning. My dad grabbed my arm and shoved me towards the door.
"You are no longer welcome here. You are worth nothing to me" He said coldly. I couldn't understand.
"What?! But why-"
"You'll never measure up to a proper prince. I don't want someone as shameful as you putting a stain on my good reputation." I wanted to scream "YOUR PUTTING A STAIN ON YOUR OWN REPUTATION" but before I could a sack was thrown over my head.

   When the light had returned, I was in a dimly lit room. There we many people in it with me, all adults. They had dark cloaks and masks on. I heard a burning noise.
"Worthless child. You'll regret ever seeing the light of day." One said. Another one of the men turned around holding a vile. I was about to get up and run but two of the men grabbed me and forced me to sit. Another one forced my right eye open.
"Stop it! What are you doing!?!?" I screamed. The man with the vile came over, hovering the liquid over my eye.
"Stupid loud mouth" He muttered as he tipped the vile over, the liquid spilling into my eye.
  I screamed. My eye felt like it had just had acid poured into it. For all I knew, that could may as heck well have been some sort of acid. I held my eye as I kicked the one who had poured the stuff into my eye. He stumbled backwards, causing his mask to fall off, revealing one of the counsel members. My good eye widened.
  "Sick rich-"Someone hit me on the side of my head making me fly across the room. Unfortunately for him, I hit a lever which made part of the wall collapse. I stood up still holding my right eye and ran towards the opening. Before I departed, I turned around and yelled "I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS. ALL OF YOU."And ran out of room. It had turned out to be a tower. I screamed as I plummeted towards the ground. I was not expecting to suddenly fall on top of a dragon. And to my surprise and young girl was the one riding it.
  When we landed I scrambled off the dragon. "Wh-what do you-"
"Are you ok?!?!" She asked suddenly running up to me.
"Huh?"
"Your eye! What happened?! Should I get help!?!"
  I hastily put my hand over my right eye again, realizing I had removed it when I fell. Observing the girl, I noticed that she was wearing a small tiara on her head. This meant she was obviously a princess.
  'She deserves to die too' I thought. But then again, she did just save my so called "worthless" life."Why do you have a dragon" I asked in a low voice. She glanced back it.
"It was a present from my daddy." She said smiling. "What's your name?"
"None of your business!" I snapped than paused. "What's your name?"
"Lilacnia" She answered smiling.
[END OF FLASHBACK]
  I smiled. Funny how she didn't recognize me when she ran into that alley.


~Len POV~
   The school bell rang signaling the end of the day. I grabbed my bag and rushed out the classroom. I ran all the way outside until I was at the school gate. You're getting over excited Len. No I'm not. Yes you are No I'm not! Yes you- SHUT UP ME.
   Lilacnia finally came out of the school. Once she was one foot away from me I grabbed her hand and started off towards the skating rink. Ok maybe I am over excited. (See? Shhhh!)
"Wah! Len where are we going?" Lilacnia cried from behind me. I smiled.
"The date of course" I replied looking back.
"Right…" she said blushing.

  When we finally got there I let go of her hand.
"Len~ I didn't even get to change clothes!" Lila said tugging at her shirt. I grinned and held up a bag.
"Don't worry I brought you something to wear." I said. "Come on, you can change in the bathroom."
"Not very private but ok..." she mumbled and followed me inside.
  After paying a man to go inside I handed Lilacnia the bag after getting my stuff out of it. I was wearing a dark grey T-shirt with a black jacket that had gold lines going down the sleeves, and some jeans. I had once again picked random things out of Rin's drawer for Lila. I hope it didn't look to bad.
   I waited outside of the girl's bathroom. I literally jaw-dropped when I saw Lilacnia. She was wearing a short, pink, silk blouse-like shirt over a black long sleeved shirt that had a bow at the collar and was wearing a tight, dark green mini skirt and black stockings. I have a natural gift for picking out clothes.
  "Um does it look good?" Lilacnia asked. I blushed and nodded.
"I-I'll go get the skates." I said and hurried over to the counter.

   I must be some kinda idiot for not asking Lilacnia if she could skate before I asked if she would come here with me. Then again, she must've known and wanted to go anyway because she didn't have to come in the first place.
  She was clinging to my arm the first few minutes we were going around the rink. After awhile Lilacnia could skate without suffocating my good arm. Instead, she was killing my hand.
  "I-I'm sorry I should've told you I didn't know how…" She mumbled.
"It's fine, but why didn't you say anything?" I asked.
   Lilacnia was silent after that. You know when you go skating you've got a gang of like 3 people who think there all pro and skate 100 mph around the rink about 1 inch away from people and scaring them half to death? Yeah well there were those people here. And every time they skated in front of Lilacnia she'd back up against me. I can't say I didn't find it amusing (and pleasurable).

  After awhile I started to get hungry. "Hey you wanna get something to eat?" I asked turning to her. She nodded in reply.
  We skated towards the food counter. I ordered a soft pretzel because that's all that I could afford. "We can just share it" I said. Lilacnia blushed and looked down.
  We sat down at a table and I broke up the pretzel until it was about even. I wasn't sure, I didn't count but it LOOKED even. We ate in silence until I noticed there was one piece left. At first I was going to give it to her until I remembered a movie.
"Len you can-"
"Ever heard of the pocky game? Or Lady and the Tramp?" I asked picking up the last piece and biting down on one end. Lilacnia tilted her head thinking for a second, then her eyes widened and she blushed.
"I'm not doing that Len!" She said. I grinned.
"You know you want to~ do it or I'll make Rin pour ice down your shir-"
"FINE!" Lilacnia said blushing more and biting down onto the other end of the pretzel. This isn't everyone's idea of a romantic first date, sharing pretzels from a roller rink. But heck, at least we were having a somewhat of a kiss (don't tell anyone I'm happy about this or I will find you and hunt you down. I warned you)
  We both began slowly eating away at the bread. When our lips got close, I felt Lila's tongue on my upper lip and I froze. I shouldn't have done that because it turns out she was stealing my part of the pretzel (evil right?!). I blushed. "H-Hey!" She sat back and swallowed the rest…my poor pretzel ;A;.
  Lilacnia stuck her tongue out at me playfully. "That's what you get for suggesting it Len."
  My precious pretzel.
~Rin POV~
  I saw that. I saw it happen right before my eyes. I was outside the skating rink looking in a window and watching Lilacnia and Len. It wasn't fair. Why did Lilacnia get to have Len? I've been with Len my whole life, yet he has yet to look at me the way he does Lilacnia. I knew about the date because Miku confessed that she was the one who pushed Len to ask Lilacnia out. She said it was because she knew that Len could cheer her up. She said it was also because she knew Len was starting to like Lilacnia, but she didn't bring that up with Len. (And he's giving her my clothes!)
  Miku told me Len has his feelings and I have mine. And I should support him if he likes another girl. But shouldn't Len care about how I feel too? Can't he acknowledge my feelings just once?
  Of course not. Because Len doesn't like me that way.
~Lilacnia POV~
   The sun was just setting when Len and I exited the rink.
  We walked in silence for a minute until I spotted a playground near a preschool. A memory clicked in my mind and I ran towards the playground.
"Hey Lila, where are you going!?!" Len called racing after me.
Behind the playground was a vast area of woods with a little path that was barely noticeable But I noticed it. "Come on, Len!" I said tugging on his jacket sleeve. Now that I think about it, he looked pretty hot in what he was wear- OH NO WAIT NO YOU DIDN'T HEAR THAT JUST GET BACK TO THE STORY.
  I pulled him along the path until I got to a clearing. The piney smell was reassuring.
  I let go of his sleeve and laid down on my back in the middle of the clearing, looking up at the sky. The moon had started to rise. It was pretty. Len laid down on his side on my right resting his head on his left hand looking down at me.
"Pretty isn't it?"
  I looked up at him and nodded smiling. Len lifted his right hand and smoothed my bangs away from my face which I usually had covering my left eye. "Your eyes are pretty…" Len said. I blushed and looked away.
  "Thank you" I murmured.
  I looked away. I had this bad feeling for some reason. I felt….I felt like a traitor. I felt like I had betrayed Gumo in some way, but I couldn't understand why.

  After that Len walked me to my house. We were silent the whole walk.
  Len walked me up all the way to my front door. I made a mental note to return Rin's clothes tomorrow. She probably wouldn't like to know Len took them from her for a date with me.
"Well I'll see ya later." Len said and turned around.
"L-Len…" I stammered. Len turned around and waited. I took one quick step towards him and hugged him. "Th-Thank you." I said blushing. Len smiled and wrapped his arms around me and whispered,
  "You're Welcome. I enjoyed it."
~Len POV~
  The next day Rin was not in a good mood.
  First she raged at me for "stealing" her clothes. Then she went on with some rant that I couldn't understand. That rant woke Miku up and she had to drag Rin away and talk to her about I dunno what. Meiko was throwing a fit because she had a hospital bill to pay and was confused as to why she was getting them in the first place.
  Typical day in the Sakine/Hatsune/Kagamine household.
  After Miku was done lecturing Rin, Rin came out and tugged on the sleeve of my shirt, gesturing for me to go upstairs.
  Rin pulled me into her room and closed the door. She then ran up to the window and observed the outdoors, as if she were looking for something.
"Rin, what am I doing here? What do you need?" I asked impatiently sitting down on her bed. Rin shut the curtains, cutting off all the bright light in the room. Rin came back over to me glancing at the window occasionally. She had a frightened look on her face. What was up with her?
"Len you have to stay away from Lilacnia. You have to" Rin whispered. I stared at her for a second trying to comprehend what he just said
  "Why-"
  "I don't have time to explain. Well, I can't explain as a matter of fact. But, if you don't stay away from here, you could get in trouble. You could get hurt-"
"Rin if this is because you're jealous-"
"THAT'S NOT WHY!" Rin shouted. She paused for a second trying to regain her composure, then continued in a low whisper "That's not why. Why would I be jealous? I just don't w-want you to get hurt." Rin glanced at the window again.
  I heard someone stomp up the stairs and Miku opened the door.
"Len, phone for you. I don't know who it is but he said he has to speak to you." Miku explained.
"He?"
"Well, the caller sounds like a boy." Miku shrugged and thrust me the phone.
I caught the phone, took a good look at a shaking Rin, and walked out of the room. I walked a little ways down the hall to the guest room and closed the door.
"Hello?"
"Stay away from Lilacnia, Kagamine!"
  I noticed to things at once. The first was this definitely was a boy's voice, so this couldn't have been Rin. The second one was, when I looked at the caller ID, it said "Unknown Number". Perfect. Just wonderful.
"H-Hello? May I ask who's calling?"
"I swear Kagamine, if I ever see you acting like you did with Lilacnia yesterday, I will make sure that day is your last" Then the caller hung up.
  I sat down on the guest bed. Lilacnia was my friend I can't just suddenly ignore her. But, I didn't want my days to be my "last"
What was I supposed to do?
